The Team

The Maple Leaf Language Services is formed by:

Mireya Aguilar

Company’s director.
English, French and Spanish teacher and Cambridge Speaking Examiner.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish Philology (University of Barcelona). She also holds a Master’s Degree in Technical Translation: English-Spanish (University of York, Toronto) and a Master’s degree in Audiovisual Translation (UAB, Barcelona). She has been working as an English and Spanish teacher for seven years in several private schools and companies in Catalonia. Internationally, she has taught English as a foreign language at King George’s International College (Toronto). On the other hand, she collaborates with several dubbing companies by subtitling films, short films and video games and she has been coordinator of the first English summer camp in Sant Llorenç d’Hortons (Barcelona).

She has a strong relationship with Cambridge ESOL examinations. On one hand, she has not only prepared students for official exams, but also organized exam sessions. On the other hand, she is a Cambridge oral examiner.

Mariona Ruiz

English teacher and head of studies.

She is currently studying Marketing and Public Relations in Formatic Barcelona, in conjunction with the University of Wales.

She has studied English at the academy since it first opened. Her English level is C1. Nowadays, she is preparing for C2. She has always been interested in the world of education. Her speciality are the groups of children and teenagers.

From 2017, she works for Exams Catalunya as an invigilator in in several sessions.

Anna Torrijos

English teacher

She is currently studying Nursing at the Universitary Schools Gimbernat and Tomàs Cerdà, which belong to Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

She has studied English in the Academy for more than 15 years. She has got level C1 and she is preparing for reaching level C2. Her passion for giving classes to children of different ages is a long-learning process to continue growing academically.

Gretha Mühlichen

German, French and English teacher

Gretha has moved from Germany to Spain this summer. She has studied French Philology and Political Science at the University of Rostock (Germany) and Peace and Conflict Research at both the University of Frankfurt and the Technical University of Darmstadt.

Besides spending one year in France, she has also studied at the University of Southampton (UK) for 6 months. She took 9 years of English classes when she was at school and 12 years of French lessons during her school and university years.

She is passionate about travelling and discovering other cultures and languages and believes that the key to develop in the current world is knowing different languages. With this in mind, she is happy to show that key to the future generations.
