Ironic, by Alanis Morissette

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It’s a black fly in your Chardonnay
It’s a death row pardon two minutes too late
Isn’t it ironic … don’t you think

It’s like rain on your wedding day
It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid
It’s the good advice that you just didn’t take
Who would’ve thought … it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids good-bye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
‘Well isn’t this nice…’
And isn’t it ironic … don’t you think
Repeat Chorus

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything’s okay and everything’s going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything’s gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

It’s a traffic jam when you’re already late
It’s a no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It’s meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn’t it ironic… don’t you think
A little too ironic… and yeah I really do think…
Repeat Chorus

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

Al Sr. “Ir Sobre Seguro” le daba miedo volar;

U nemployment, corruption, capitalism, speculation, envy, selfishness… This is a small selection of the topics discussed on Sunday the 17 th of January in “La Sala” in Sant Llorenç d’Hortons.”L’Hort” is a play written and directed by Laura Sierra, a young of 21-years-old student of Audiovisual Communication.

“L’Hort” is a comprehensive critique of the current social reality that shows how the economic crisis has made the working classes become poorer because of the rich people. It also presents a mayor who does not care about the inhabitants of his village because he is and only interested in having the power. To sum up, it is a critical image of current Catalonia.

In addition, among all the topics that dealt with it is very important highlight the corruption. “L’Hort” shows thatcorruption does not only happen in the political elite, but also in small towns. However, “L’Hort” does not forgetcases of corruption in Catalonia frow the past years namely, “el Cas Palau”, “el Cas Pujol”, “el Cas Nóos” o “el Cas Bárcenas.”

Another topic that the play states is the individualist minds that the human being often has in society. This individualist mind is the result at the current economic system, capitalism. This system wants people to have the need of consuming and own more than others. It also watches the rejection of collective work in order to fight for a majority in society. In “L’Hort” you can see yourselves reflected when people have the opportunity to start a collective project.

Finally, the play was very successful, as there were people that could not enter because “La Sala” of Sant Llorenç d’Hortons was full. It was a pleasure to see active people who were willing to work collectively to give life to the town.
